A subdomain is part of a web address that is under the main domain, for instance name.example.com. From a technical perspective, even in www.example.com the "www" part is a subdomain since the fully qualified domain name is just "example.com". Every single subdomain could have its own site and records and can even be hosted using a different company if you wish to use a specific feature which is not provided by your current provider. A good example for using a subdomain is if you have a business website as well as an online store under a subdomain where clients can purchase your products. In addition, you can have a forum where they can talk about the products and by employing subdomains instead of subfolders you are going to avoid any chance of all websites going down if you perform maintenance, or update one of the website scripts. Keeping your sites separated is also less risky in case of a script security breach.

Subdomains in Cloud Website Hosting

Our cloud website hosting plans will allow you to create countless subdomains for every domain address hosted in your account without any difficulty. Assuming that the main domain is added, it takes two mouse clicks to set up a subdomain and pick what folder it'll open (if different from the default one), create custom error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions, set a shared IP address or a dedicated one, and much more. All subdomains are going to be conveniently listed in alphabetical order under their main domain for convenient access and control. By right-clicking on any of them and by using fast access buttons you can see the error logs, visitor statistics or site files for that specific subdomain. We haven't set a limit for the total number of subdomains which you can create with any one of our plans, so you can have as many as you wish.
